Discovered in 1997 by Jacoby and Fullton.

JaFu 1 is one of only four planetary nebulae currently known to probably lie in globular clusters; this one lies close to, and is probably a member of, globular cluster Palomar 6. Hidden in the outer fringes of this globular, JaFu 1 was not discovered until 1997, when it was found by Jacoby and Fullton together with another planetary nebula in a globular, JaFu 2 in NGC 6441 (Jacoby et.al. 1997).
