The Tucana dwarf was discovered in 1990 by R.J. Lavery, Mount Stromlo Observatory (Lavery 1990). He reports that this galaxy could be resolved into stars in CCD images, is highly flattened (2.5' x 5') and thus of Hubble type dE5. See also Lavery and Mighell (1992).
