Alexander Jäger, an amateur astronomer from the University of Constance, made this color image of Comet Hyakutake C/1996B2 on March 27, 1996, at 22:10 CET (21:10 UT) in the "Schwäbische Alb" (South Germany). The moon is slightly brightening the background sky.

This image was obtained with a 135 mm f/2.8 telephoto lens, exposed 81 seconds on Kodak Ektachrome Panther 1600X film, and guided on the comet's head.
