Amateur astronomer Michael Weiland of the "Interessengemeinschaft Astronomie an der Universität Konstanz" (Astronomy Interest Group at the University of Constance) has obtained this superb color photo of Comet Hale-Bopp. The image was exposed at 4:30 CET (3:30 UT) in the morning of March 11, 1997, for 16 minutes with a 200-mm telephoto lens, from a dark site in Konstanz-Litzelstetten (Germany).
