Globular cluster Djorg 2, or Djorgovski 2, was discovered by S. Djorgovski when examining suspicious IRAS Point Sources with CCD photography with the CTIO 1.5-m telescope in September 1986, together with two other obscured globular clusters, Djorg 1, and Djorg 3; Djorg 3 later turned out to be identical with NGC 6540 (Djorgovski 1987).
