Discovered by van den Bergh and Hagen in 1975.
This cluster was first cataloged by
van den Bergh and Hagen (1975)
and classified by them as globular.
Subsequently, several authors have classified it more as an open cluster,
see e.g.:
Bill Harris
has it in his
Catalog of Parameters for Milky Way Globular Clusters of 2010, but
Holger Baumgardt's database of 2023 does not list it as a globular cluster.
